An 8-year-old boy was fatally hit by a car in Queens Friday morning, police reported.

Police said Noshat Nahian, 8, was crossing Northern Boulevard at 61st St. with his 11-year-old sister around 7:57 a.m.

The siblings were on their way to school, police said. His sister was not injured.

Noshat was hit by a tractor trailer turning left onto Northern Boulevard at 61st St. Emergency medical personnel described the injuries all over his body as “severe.” The NYPD’s preliminary investigation found that he was hit by the back tires of the tractor trailer.

The driver of the tractor trailer, 51-year-old Mauricio Osorio-Palominos of Newark, N.J., remained at the scene, police said.

Osorio-Palominos was arrested and charged a few hours later with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Police said he was driving with a suspended license.

There were also some elements of the tractor trailer that did not meet safety requirements outlined for such vehicles, resulting in an additional charge of operating a vehicle in violation of safety rules.

Noshat’s death adds another child’s name to a list of young New Yorkers — like 12-year-old Sammy Cohen-Eckstein in Park Slope and 9-year-old Lucian Merryweather in Fort Greene — killed by motor vehicles this year. The deaths have resulted in a growing public outcry.
